Just Some Thoughts

MEDITATE ON THIS::: (Poetry oh how I miss you), If I have faith in my abilities, if I stay true to the path that feels right, if I channel my passion into action, I will ultimately achieve a breakthrough.  In other words, as soon as I learn to trust myself I will know how to heal and grow.

I will heal and grow, I will heal and grow!!!

The Body Is A Work Of Art

The more I take back the beauty of my body, the health of my life the more liberated I feel! The more I accept my body in it's transformation (slowly but surely) the more I love myself, with and without clothes.... At times it's hard and It can be tough, in a society that prizes unrealistic images. But I'm learning that it is possible, and it starts with what I say when I look in the mirror. My goal is to retrain my brain how to think positively about my reflection and my body. I've accepted the fact that I'm going to always have a small booty (lol)... It's not the biggest but I'm learning to be perfectly comfortable with the fact it's not!  I'm learning that I may never be a size 6, but I'm learning to be perfectly comfortable loving the thickness God has blessed me with!! Retraining my brain to have nothing but positive thoughts when I look in the mirror is starting to become something I naturally do, something that's not premeditated. At this point in my life, I have to realize those factors because social conditioning is a very real, very powerful force and can destroy a persons self esteem...
From birth, we are exposed to a specific images in our media that reinforce the attractiveness of an unattainable ideal of female beauty. That we have to look like this, or walk like this, etc.  We are constantly affronted with photo-shopped images of actresses and models who embody these traits, and want more and more and more because they can not seem to find the happiness within themselves. Media uses this to make us feel less worthy of ourselves and buy into the standards of beauty that they give us... Well I'm no longer buying the bullshit because I am learning to love myself and better myself physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Each day I'm going to give myself a hug and say, "you are perfectly imperfect, flawed for uniqueness, your beauty is not an apology, it is a masterpiece from an awesome creator!!"

I am loving me some me!!!!!

Embracing My Natural Beauty

I decided I needed a change, yup a change indeed. This change however will be one for the betterment and empowerment of myself. Of course any new adventure or change that I am embarking on is for the better.

Well I decided to cut my loc extensions off. Yeah, I truly did it!! I felt like the need for me to go on this 2nd journey without the extensions was a must. The extensions were started as a cover up for insecurities I thought I conquered! Obviously I didn't, and I'm feeling like a fraud at this very moment for thinking I did. I decided that this insecurity will be tackled head on. I must bare myself, my nakedness to the world. Expose my insecurity and overcome it. For some year now I have been embarrassed with my traction alopecia and felt the need to wear extensions to cover it up. Not any more!!! I will not hide behind hair, I will not allow my true beauty to be watered down with false extensions anymore. I love the loc extensions but the meaning behind mine were something hendering me from accepting myself! Cheers to a new me and a new do!!!!!!😃😃😃😃

Yoga Joke From My Friend Stacey

😂😂😂

Ways That Yoga Can Keep You Fit Pt.1

1 Improved flexibility is one of the first and most obvious benefits of yoga. During your first class, you probably won't be able to touch your toes, never mind do a backbend. But if you stick with it, you'll notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, seemingly impossible poses will become possible. You'll also probably notice that aches and pains start to disappear. That's no coincidence. Tight hips can strain the knee joint due to improper alignment of the thigh and shinbones. Tight hamstrings can lead to a flattening of the lumbar spine, which can cause back pain. And inflexibility in muscles and connective tissue, such as fascia and ligaments, can cause poor posture.

Strength Test
2 Strong muscles do more than look good. They also protect us from conditions like arthritis and back pain, and help prevent falls in elderly people. And when you build strength through yoga, you balance it with flexibility. If you just went to the gym and lifted weights, you might build strength at the expense of flexibility.

Standing Orders
3 Your head is like a bowling ball—big, round, and heavy. When it's balanced directly over an erect spine, it takes much less work for your neck and back muscles to support it. Move it several inches forward, however, and you start to strain those muscles. Hold up that forward-leaning bowling ball for eight or 12 hours a day and it's no wonder you're tired. And fatigue might not be your only problem. Poor posture can cause back, neck, and other muscle and joint problems. As you slump, your body may compensate by flattening the normal inward curves in your neck and lower back. This can cause pain and degenerative arthritis of the spine.

Joint Account
4 Each time you practice yoga, you take your joints through their full range of motion. This can help prevent degenerative arthritis or mitigate disability by "squeezing and soaking" areas of cartilage that normally aren't used. Joint cartilage is like a sponge; it receives fresh nutrients only when its fluid is squeezed out and a new supply can be soaked up. Without proper sustenance, neglected areas of cartilage can eventually wear out, exposing the underlying bone like worn-out brake pads.

Spinal Rap
5 Spinal disks—the shock absorbers between the vertebrae that can herniate and compress nerves—crave movement. That's the only way they get their nutrients. If you've got a well-balanced asana practice with plenty of backbends, forward bends, and twists, you'll help keep your disks supple.

Bone Zone
6It's well documented that weight-bearing exercise strengthens bones and helps ward off osteoporosis. Many postures in yoga require that you lift your own weight. And some, like Downward- and Upward-Facing Dog, help strengthen the arm bones, which are particularly vulnerable to osteoporotic fractures. In an unpublished study conducted at California State University, Los Angeles, yoga practice increased bone density in the vertebrae. Yoga's ability to lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol (see Number 11) may help keep calcium in the bones.

Flow Chart
7 Yoga gets your blood flowing. More specifically, the relaxation exercises you learn in yoga can help your circulation, especially in your hands and feet. Yoga also gets more oxygen to your cells, which function better as a result. Twisting poses are thought to wring out venous blood from internal organs and allow oxygenated blood to flow in once the twist is released. Inverted poses, such as Headstand, Handstand, and Shoulderstand, encourage venous blood from the legs and pelvis to flow back to the heart, where it can be pumped to the lungs to be freshly oxygenated. This can help if you have swelling in your legs from heart or kidney problems. Yoga also boosts levels of hemoglobin and red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the tissues. And it thins the blood by making platelets less sticky and by cutting the level of clot-promoting proteins in the blood. This can lead to a decrease in heart attacks and strokes since blood clots are often the cause of these killers.

Lymph Lesson
8 When you contract and stretch muscles, move organs around, and come in and out of yoga postures, you increase the drainage of lymph (a viscous fluid rich in immune cells). This helps the lymphatic system fight infection, destroy cancerous cells, and dispose of the toxic waste products of cellular functioning.

Letting Go Of Old Wounds

Every moment of my life I'm either growing or dying – and when I'm physically healthy, it’s a choice, not fate.

You are the CEO of your life and every decision you make impacts your present, future and believe it or not, your past. I speak of the past because it can negatively infect you or positively affect you... Yes the more we bring on bad decisions the more disappointments we will have behind us that can upset us if we allow it. The art of maintaining happiness in your life and relationships relies on the fine balancing act of holding on and letting go.  Sometimes you have to let go of people, places and things. Yes, sometimes people you trust (including yourself) will hurt you.  Being hurt is something you can’t avoid, but being continuously miserable is always a choice.  Forgiveness is the remedy.  You have to let go of what’s behind you before you can grasp the goodness in front of you. You absolutely have to realize that in order to move on, you have to release.

I'm realizing I have a long way to go but I will make it and get there.. I'm learning that things will happen that I may not always understand or have control over, but everything is not meant to be understood or controlled... I'm going to have to accept what is, and let it happen.  I won't force things but I will understand that I gave my all and let it be!!
If I keep dwelling on the negative I won't have time to reflect on the positive. So many positive things are happening in my life, and they need my attention..  I will have to make more room for what feels right and less of what feels wrong!

My pretty toes in the sand 🙌

The Joys Of Waking Up

Morning meditations and yoga are done!!! I'm about to walk down stairs and jump in this pool to start my day off. A good 30 minute swim will do me real good! The simple joys of life keeps me smiling, thankful and pleased. Many can not enjoy these three small but yet essential activities. These three things are vital 🙌 to my life. 🙌

I am the type of person who is willing to spend enough time each day, just so I can spend the better part of my life enjoying life period!! I'm happy right now and I know I'm only going to get happier! Life is getting better each day because of the plans and goal that I set out for myself. Each day I mark off something on my to do list. Each day I'm getting closer to my dreams, accomplishing my goals. Don't get my wrong, I still have set backs and problems. One thing I've learned is that Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.
So talk about your blessings more than you talk about your problems.  Just because I've struggled doesn’t mean I've failed.  Every great success requires some kind of worthy struggle to get there.
In addition, I'm doing my very best to spend more time with positive people and less time with negative ones.  People that deliberately doubt, judge and disrespect me are not worth my long-term time and attention.

So today I shall get through another day with positive thoughts and actions..

Bucket List Mark Off Part 2!!!

Hoorayyyyy!!!!! Slowly but surely I am marking items off my bucket list! Life is such an adventure! I have a bucket list and I also have a vision board which are one in the same! I'm so excited and thankful that God has blessed me to be able to live life and enjoy the beautiful blessings and creations that he has made.

This is a phrase/quote that I live by..."Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore.  Dream.  Discover.”  –Mark Twain

This quote is so real! Indeed sometimes you have to just let go and live, enjoy, have fun and explore life. I'm not saying be stupid and make irrational decisions that could negatively impact your life and possibly those that care about you. I'm simply saying enjoy life in a way that you will continue to see growth in your intellect, spirituality, and heck even your finances. Make a bucket list as I did and start marking items off!

So far I have accomplished

•Self employment
•Financially stable
•I learned to meditate
•I am a pescatarian
•I climbed Stone mountain
•Horseback Riding
•Spent an entire week in Florida bouncing from beach to beach

I'm super uber excited about 2015, because it can only get bigger and better for me!!!

Man Be Gentle

"Man represents my image, woman – my emotions.
Together, you represent the totality of God. So man:
treat woman well. Love her, respect her, for she is
fragile. In hurting her, you hurt me. What you do to
her, you do to me. In crushing her, you only damage
your own heart, the heart of your Father and the heart
of her Father. Woman, support man. In humility, show
him the power of emotion I have given you. In gentle
quietness show your strength. In love, show him that
you are the rib that protects his inner self.”
